About The Israel National Institute for Health Policy and Health Services Research (NIHP)
The International Jerusalem Conference, taking place in September 2019, will be the 7th event of its kind, organized and executed by the NIHP.
The Conferences on Health Policy have been established by the Institute as an important forum, bringing together researchers and policy makers from around the world to discuss crucial, ‘up to date’ issues and trends in health policy and health services research.
The NIHP is an independent organization, whose activities are carried out by virtue of Section 52 (2) of The National Health Insurance Law (1994) in June 1995.
The Institute’s main goals are:
- To impartially follow up and evaluate the implementation of the 1994 National Health Insurance Law and to assess its influence on all aspects of the Israeli health system.
- To promote and fund research in economics, policymaking and the decision-making processes guiding the Israeli health system. Special emphasis is placed on health economics and healthcare administration – particularly that of equity, quality and efficacy.
- To serve as an unbiased forum for professional and public discussions – as well as a meeting place for learning and the exchange of ideas on politics, regulation, organization and the management of the Israeli health system.
- To encourage interdisciplinary scientific cooperation on a national level between all players – academic, professional, managerial and governmental – of whose prime interest is the promotion of national health.
Along with its International events, the NIHP is also holding a large array of routine activities, year round. These activities create meeting places for a range of participants. From the health system: physicians, nurses, managers and other health professions. From the academy: health economists, social security and life since researches. From the government: legislators, government ministers and senior officials.
